 The
BEAST brags heavily of it's very own all female offshore tournament fishing
team fondly referred to as the "Beastie Girls". This team was
started in 1997 when the former team disbanded. Capt. Jim's wife came to
him with an "idea" to get together a group of women who loved to
fish. This "idea" was met with some reservation, however, it
quickly developed into an awesome combination.
The original team consisted of 3 members with Sharon Barlett
anchoring the team. They have made a few changes throughout the years, and the
current team (which they believe to be the ultimate team) still boasts team
captain Sharon Barlett, with Amy Barlett, and Missy Jones .
These women have had to fight more than fish in
the tournaments. They had to prove to the other teams (predominately all
male), that they had what it takes to outplay, outlast, and out-fish their
competition. The girls can bring in the big fish while having a great
time, regardless of the conditions. They have fished 3 day tournaments in
8-12 foot seas from lines in to lines out, while the tough guys have quit and
are sitting at the dock making excuses. The "Beastie Girls"
are now known as a team to reckon with, showing up repeatedly on the leader
boards.
The only drawback is trying to fund all of the tournaments these ladies have
on their schedule each year. They are currently searching for sponsors to help
them defray some of the costs. If anyone would like to have a great looking,
